Here are some 360 degree virtual tours of Wat Atvea, a small 12th century Angkor temple very close to Siem Reap’s city center. Although there are very few carvings, it’s one of my favorite places, as it’s only a few minutes from town, and for some reason, tourists avoid it completely.
For those of you that are interested in how these are made, I shoot all of them with a 7mm fisheye lens on a Nikon D2X and a special panoramic tripod head. Each sphere consists of between 8-12 images stitched together by a program. There is always a few areas that need massaging in Photoshop to make the complete file, which is then turned into the Flash file you’re viewing. It can at times be a very painstaking process to get everything to match up, but I think the end product is pretty cool.
Per request, a little proof that I’m really there!
