The view over the river in Kampot.

I love the hammocks. Lychees

On our balcony at the Veranda in Kep. I love this place.

Home distillery. Cambodian whiskey.

Trying the home brewed whiskey. It was actually the best Cambodian whiskey I’ve ever had, although that doesn’t say much. Think rice wine that’s about as strong as gasoline. I was wondering why the man brewing it was blind in one eye…this could be why.

Fishing boats anchored for the night off Kep. Bokor mountain is in the background.

Durian, the stinkiest fruit around. It’s banned in most hotels, buses, and public places.

Our view from the Veranda, Kep.

Before – Crabs, litterally seconds from the ocean.

After – mmm, mmm, good…pepper lemon sauce.

Yuck. Yes, this is exactly what it looks like, a young boy playing in the sewer.
Miriam striking a pose at RikiTikiTavi in Kampot.

Kampong Trach. We had a very tough time finding the fabled Kampot pepper plantations and ended up here. Minutes from the Vietnamese border.

Fisherman coming home for the night.

Near Kompong Trach, lotus and water hyacinth in the foreground, limestone mountains in the background.

This is where the best pepper in the world comes from. Kampot pepper. Grown on the gentle slopping hills outside of Kampot and Kep. It just tastes better.
Grown by a one-eyed man (the same man who distills his own whiskey) and his very jolly wife. The peppercorns grow on vines. They pick them when they start to get red.
Drying peppercorns
Kep at sunset

The naked lady statue at Kep. I’m not sure why they covered her breasts.
My cat whispering skills travel well.
